Sirena Irwin and Bill Mendieta Will Star in National Tour of I Love Lucy Live on Stage

Sirina Irwin and Bill Mendieta will star as classic TV couple Lucy and Ricky Ricardo in the national tour of I Love Lucy Live on Stage. The stage show, which recreates the beloved 1950s sitcom, will also star Kevin Remington and Joanna Daniels as Fred and Ethel Mertz, the Ricardos’ lovable neighbors. The tour will premiere at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City on July 17 and will go on to play 14 cities, including Boston and Costa Mesa. Additional dates have yet to be announced.

Irwin originated the role of Lucy during the show’s premiere production at Los Angeles’ Greenway Court Theatre. She reprised her performance last year during I Love Lucy’s Chicago run and has contributed as a voice artist to Spongebob SquarepantsMendieta is also reprising his performance, having created the role of Ricky in Los Angeles and Chicago. His other stage credits include The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Much Ado About Nothing and HamletRemington has been seen regionally in Edward II, A Christmas Carol, Guys and Dolls and Romeo and Juliet. Daniels is reprising her performance as Ethel, having performed the role in Chicago.

The ensemble includes Sarah Elizabeth Combs, Gregory Franklin, Peter Kevoian, Jayme Lake, Carlos Martin, Tyler Milliron, Denise Moses, Cindy Sciacca, Jeffrey Christopher Todd, Mark Christopher Tracy, Carolynne Warren and Tamara Zook.

I Love Lucy Live on Stage takes audience members back to 1952 as members of the Desilu Playhouse studio audience where they await the filming of two hilarious I Love Lucy episodes, “The Benefit” and “Lucy Has Her Eyes Examined.” A charming host entertains and enlightens the crowd to the behind-the-scenes filming process of a brand new thing called “television,” the Crystaltone Singers perform advertising jingles in perfect 50s style harmony and the sidesplitting antics of America’s favorite foursome—Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel—are presented live on stage and in color for the very first time.

The show is directed by Rick Sparks and is adapted for the stage with additional material by Kim Flagg and Sparks. I Love Lucy Live on Stage features music direction by Wayne Moore, original music by Peitor Angell, scenic design by Aaron Henderson, costume design by Shon LeBlanc and lighting design by Chris Wojcieszyn.
